signed ‘Galeazzo von Mörl’ (lower right) pencil on paper 64 x 49 cm Born in Innsbruck in 1922 into a noble family, Galeazzo Tonini von Mörl lived for many years in Italy and settled in the Principality of Monaco, where he died in 2011. After graduating as a naval engineer, he became an officer in the Italian navy. After the war, he worked in the field of printed designs for haute couture. In the 60s, he began painting on his own. In the 1980s, Galeazzo Tonini von Mörl devoted himself exclusively to art, his favorite themes being portraits, nudes, still lifes, trompe-l'oeil, symbolism, surrealism.
