base goulot Base Neck Label Artist: RICHARD LIPPOLD (1915-2002) Richard Lippold, an American sculptor of German origin, invented the means of expression that made him famous: linear sculpture, which organises space by interweaving wires of brass, nickel or copper, radiating from poles and forming expanding geometric figures. For the 1959 Mouton Rothschild label, he translated the colour of the wine and the alignment of the vines into his abstract language. Provenance: Private wine cellar from a Villa in the South of France. (preserved in the cellar with regulated hydrometry and temperature)
