The Russo-Japanese war told by an officer serving in the Cossacks. A major conflict at the beginning of the 20th century, the Russo-Japanese War (8 February 1904 - 5 September 1905), which pitted Russia against Japan, ended with the latter’s victory, enshrined in the Treaty of Portsmouth. In military terms, this conflict foreshadowed the wars of the 20th century and had considerable political consequences.
