A RUSSIAN ICON OF «THE KAZAN MOTHER OF GOD» IN SILVER-GILT POLYCHROME ENAMELED OKLAD

Moscow, early XX c. Oklad: silver, stamped, engraved, gilding, polychrome enamel on the fi ligree. Oil on wood. Hallmarks (the center of the icon): maker «E.K»; silver mark 84 (zolotnik) and a small female head in a kokoshnik. 26.5 x 22 cm. Condition: without renovation, painting in a good condition, covered with a layer of darkened varnish, patina on the oklad. An exquisite silver oklad with a careful and varied performance of the ornamental elements, gracefully emphasises the magnifi cence of the image.
