American illustrator best known for his cover paintings on the pulp magazines of Street & Smith, Adventure, Esquire and other publishers. He grew up in Brooklyn with his parents, originally from Germany, and studied at the Pratt Institute with Dean Cornwell and H. Winfield Scott as teachers. Along his illustrations, he also dedicated himself to fine art: portraits, landscapes and western scenes.
