MONUMENTAL SILVER AND ONYX SCULPTURAL INKWELL STAND ‘ERMAK IN THOUGHTS’ WITH SILVER-MOUNTED CUT-GLASS INKWELL 4th Moscow Artel, Workshop V. Drugov and Co, Moscow, 1905-1917

Marks: silver mark 84 (Zolotnik), mark of «4A» (for 4th Moscow Artel), mark «Drugov and Co» (for director of the Kiev and Odessa shops of the company «Faberge»), further marked 875, head and hammer. Height: 22 cm, width 54 cm, depth: 30.5 cm On the rocky shore, lost in thought with his head on his hand sitting Ermak armored with Russian light chain mail and sword. On his chest Russian double-headed eagle. On the cliff of the old Cyrillic inscription «Ermak sits enclasped by a thought.» On the left side, in a circular recess of wave placed a crystal inkwell with silver lid shaped as onion dome. On the front side of the onyx base recessed groove for pencils. By 4th Moscow Artel, Drugov worked for the Moscow branch of Carl Faberge f rm to sell in Odessa and Kiev stores who traded of Faberge’s goods (as Faberge did not have license, these shops traded under name of his director - Drugov).
