Oil on zinc plate Oklad: Silver, cast, mounted Hallmarks: 1st Moscow artel, female head in a kokoshnik and silver mark 84 (zolotnik) Size: 11 X 7 cm. Condition: Good condition, without restoration, minor losses, under a layer of darkened varnish, patina on the oklad. Initially, icons painted on metal (on zinc) were served as images placed out of the church, in niches of temple facade or above gates. However, in late XIX - early XX cc. for the sake of fashion icons on metal were also spread as richly decorated gift and miniature prayer images.
