It was founded in 1908 on the initiative of Charles-Louis Philippe by a group of creative young people, including Jacques Copeau and Andre Gide. This first issue, released in 1908, did not go on sale due to disagreements between its creators. The first issue, intended for the public, was published on February 1, 1909. 15 Novembre №1.
