Together with the Grand Duke, A.N. Benoit, S.P. Dygilev, P.Ya. Dashkov. A textual commentary was prepared by B.L. Modzalevsky , N.P. Gumov , V.I. Seitov. The publication was prepared as a result of the exhibition of Russian portrait art, held in 1905 in the Tauride Palace. This exhibition featured 2,286 works from private collections, including noble estates from all over the Russian Empire. About 300 portraits were not included in the exhibition "for the complete lack of space." The publication is a unique historical source, since many of the portraits reproduced in it were subsequently lost.
