Unknown artist, end of XIX – beginning of XX centuries Marie of Prussia, Crown Princess of Bavaria

Initials ‘EMV’ (along the right edge) Miniature, in silver locket, hallmark 800 4.5 x 3 cm (oval) Marie Friederike Franziska Hedwig von Preußen was a granddaughter of the King of Prussia Frederick William II. She married the Crown Prince, and later King of Bavaria, Maximilian II in 1842. She was the mother of Kings Ludwig II, King of Bavaria. This miniature is after the painting by Joseph Karl Stieler (1781-1858) for the Gallery of Beauties at Nymphenburg Palace in Munich in 1843.
