Russian naval of cer’s award Sabre based on the sample of 1855, with lanyard, with the inscription «For courage», «Golden weapons with the badge of the Order of St. George and St. Anna IV degree (double award)».
Overall length - 99.3 cm; blade length - 83.5 cm; blade width at the heel - 2.43 cm. The blade is steel, straight, single-edged, with one broad fuller. The outside of the blade is decorated with an etched oral ornament, an image of a bust portrait of the general, a warrior on a horse, with an inscription in the centre: “FOR DIFFERENCE IN THE TURKEY WAR 1877 - 1878”. The outside of the blade is decorated with an etched oral ornament, war trophies and the letters “I P” on the shield. The hilt consists of a handle with a head and brass, gilded guard. The handle is brass, gilded, wrapped in twisted brass wire along transverse grooves. There is an engraved inscription on the side arms “FOR COURAGE”. The badge of Order of Saint Anne of the 4th degree is af xed on the outer lining of the crosspiece, the owner’s initials are engraved on the inner lining. All-metal sheaths (from European weapons). Original lanyard (ribbon), naval of cer, for all types of broadswords, is made of silver braids, silver threads and silk. The saber presented is a weapon assembled from original and non-original parts of Russian and European cold weapons from different periods, with an original European blade decorated with inscriptions in a later period. Russia, 1870s - the twentieth century. Condition: good, the sheath is jammed at the bottom.
