For the first time in art auction history, we will present the advanced technological reproduction of LÉONARD TSUGUHARU FOUJITA's, "Détail Grande composition 2, dite Composition au chien" (1928), made by Fujifilm Belgium NV at our contemporary art auction in Monte Carlo on November 27. This 3D painting blends cutting-edge XXI century technology with the legacy of the great artist Foujita and is accompanied by certificate of authenticity from The Foundation Foujita.

A century ago a Japanese–French painter Léonard Tsuguharu Foujita (1886-1968)created a bridge of art between East and West, applying Japanese ink techniques to Western style paintings. He has been called "the most important Japanese artist working in the West during the 20th century".
After moving from Tokyo to Paris in 1913 he met Picasso, Chagall, Soutine and Modigliani, and together they formed what is known as the "Paris School". From 1920, Foujita became famous for his portraits of women, his self-portraits and of course, his cats. His fine, flowing lines combine oriental refinement with western realism. His fame was without borders: France, Europe, America, Japan. He died in 1968 after converting to Catholicism and taking the first name Léonard in tribute to the master of the Renaissance (Leonardo da Vinci).
Today using innovative technology Fujifilm Belgium NV continues to preserve the heritage of the great master and opens up new avenues for studying, exhibiting and experiencing art.
Fujifilm Belgium NV developed a sophisticated hi-tech process called "reliefography" to create an identical reproduction of a masterpiece.
Three-dimensional scanning, digital imaging and printing technology are brought together to faithfully recreate not only the image, but also the textured detail of a work in accurate colour. Fujifilm expert team spent several years doing research, developing and fine-tuning the technology before finally being able to create a superior quality reproduction, or RELIEVO.
Each RELIEVO is meticulously inspected for quality by the Fujifilm quality assurance team followed by the experts of the museum or owner. This quality control process primarily focuses on the actual reproduction: image, color, structure. Only when all standards are met perfectly, is RELIEVO approved and made available to the market.
Lastly, each RELIEVO carries an anti-counterfeit protection and comes with a certificate so the buyer can be sure it is genuine RELIEVO and made by Fujifilm, and approved by the museum.
